Ivy Knight: Jugs & Cans: A Reaping

   09/10/2021 — 01/09/2022

This exhibition is a collection of over 150 empty vessels; jugs, cans, bottles, and boxes, collected from women in food across Canada and the United States. In gathering the containers Ivy collects the stories and struggles of the cooks, bakers, food writers, restaurateurs, and servers who opened, emptied, and used them. She then lovingly enrobes them in crocheted vestments to hold the donor’s voiced realities in a brightly coloured, protective shield of craft.

Constellations

   01/28/2022 — 04/30/2022

Joanna Strong’s constellation of paintings illuminate and explore the potency of objects as artifacts and repositories for stories. Scattered over the walls, the small works evoke both microcosmic worlds and the macrocosm of the galaxy. The array of circular paintings swirl around the magnetic force of a large, planet-like painting, floating in the middle of the gallery. The variance in scale shifts the viewers’ own perception of size - from enormous to small and back again.
