Learn how to harness colour to customize threads in this two-part workshop for experienced weavers. In the first session, participants will learn about the different types of dyes, how to mix dye paints and assist solutions, and planning colours. The participants will also design a dye pattern for warp(s) of 5.5 yards, or enough to produce two scarves. The second session will bring these preparations to life as participants mix their dye stock solutions and paint their warps with instructor supervision and support.
This two-part introduction to dye painting using Procion MX Dyes is suited to weavers with some experience who are able to prepare warps independently for dyeing in this workshop. Participants must supply and prepare a warp of 5.5 yards in white or neutral tencel (2/8) or mercerized cotton (2/10) in advance of the second workshop date.
