In this hands-on botanical art workshop, you’ll explore the natural colours, shapes, and textures found in fall leaves and flowers to create their own one-of-a-kind eco print on a silk scarf using seasonal leaves gathered from trees and plants. We’ll explore some of the best leaves for natural printing, including maple, oak, birch, sumac, walnut, poplar, and other tannin-rich leaves. Autumn leaves that are still fresh and flexible can create especially beautiful impressions in warm golds, yellows, rusts, browns, and earthy tones. You’ll learn how to arrange, bundle, and steam your leaves to reveal the hidden pigments and natural patterns they leave behind.
You’ll also discover the art of flower pounding, using fresh flower petals to transfer their natural pigments onto paper. Create a collection of unique handmade gift cards, each featuring the delicate marks, shapes, and colours of real flowers.
All materials are provided, and no previous art experience is necessary. Come ready to experiment, connect with nature, and enjoy a relaxing creative experience where you never quite know what colours will emerge.
