Join artist Soledad Muñoz for an in-person workshop and artist-led discussion that explores the intersection of woven textile, sound, and instrumental play. Grounded in the artist’s interdisciplinary practice, the session introduces participants to the processes and approaches she employs, where weaving functions as both a material structure, instrument and social gesture.
The workshop opens with reflections on the artist’s practice and her ongoing research into the relationship between textile and sound. A live performance will follow, where Muñoz will activate woven materials and sound-making instruments. Participants will then be guided to create their own woven objects, which will be activated through sound as part of an interactive and participatory sensory exchange.
In conversation with Celina Eceiza’s A material called Earth and Chukwudubem Ukaigwe’s Locutions: Fragments out of a Deluge, participants are invited to consider how copper thread, a material often utilized in Muñoz’s practice, can be seen as conductive and amplifying within the exhibition space. Open to all skill levels.
