Explore the many ways to create functional pieces for home and entertaining using hand building and the wheel. Open to beginners as well as experienced makers, students will develop their own pieces with individual guidance and demos from the instructor on form, surface, finishing and glazing based on students’ requirements. Demonstrated skills will include different hand building and throwing techniques, ways to create handles and knobs, and throwing techniques for cylinders, bowls, plates, and lidded containers. Surface texture, coloured slips, stains, and glazing will round off the class, as well as discussion of results as class projects progress.
