This season of Family Open Studios is inspired by the imaginative, materially rich practice of Celina Eceiza, whose work combines colour, texture, movement, and abstraction to create dreamlike, atmospheric environments. Through playful experimentation with form and pattern, Celina’s installations invite viewers into spaces shaped by gestures, local sites, re-use, and intuitive making.
In the studio, families explore similar approaches by working with pliable materials, layered forms, and expressive mark-making. Participants are encouraged to think through play, discovering how colour and texture can become tools for storytelling and emotional expression.
Our Artist Instructors are present to offer guidance, facilitate experimentation, and support families in developing ideas. Participants may respond to prompts or choose to work independently in ways that reflect their own interests and creative rhythms.
