Black coffee for a sustainable darkroom? This workshop will introduce the use of caffenol for black and white film development as an alternative, eco-friendly method that minimize the use of toxic chemicals commonly found in conventional darkroom practices. This workshop is perfect for photographers seeking to integrate more environmentally conscious practices into their creative flow, whether you’re an experienced darkroom enthusiast or a beginner interested in exploring film photography with a green twist.
In this session, we’ll use everyday household ingredients to develop black and white film (1 roll per participant) setting you on the path to a more earth-conscious approach and to expand your repertoire of photography’s capabilities. Participants will walk away with a deeper understanding of how their creative practices can align with a commitment to environmental stewardship, all while producing film negatives without negative feelings.
Bring your own 35mm camera or use ones supplied by the instructor. All other materials will be supplied. This session pairs nicely with the next in the Radical Darkroom series: Greening the Darkroom – Print Edition.
