The Art Gallery of Burlington’s PA Day Camps offers enriching, hands-on creative experiences for young learners. Through guided studio sessions and engagement with contemporary art, campers explore materials, techniques, and ideas in an environment designed to support curiosity, connection to oneself and their peers, and creative confidence.
Each camp day includes two studio sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, led by our team of professional Artist Instructors. Inspired by current exhibitions and the AGB’s extensive ceramic collection, campers experiment with media such as painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, and textiles with a strong emphasis on sustainable materials. Outdoor breaks, movement, and group play are integrated throughout the day to support each camper’s well-being and encourage working together.
Ages 5 – 7
Material Exploration
Young campers develop foundational creative skills through sensory-rich, play-based activities. Guided by our professional Artist Instructors and youth camp counsellors, learners practice close looking, experimenting with a range of materials, and beginning building upon their art vocabulary. Projects emphasize discovery, imagination, and joyful making, with each camper taking home a small collection of artworks that reflect their learning.
Learning Focus: Sensory exploration, early childhood creative expression, visual literacy
Please note: To support our youngest group of campers, participants must be 5 years of age or older to attend PA Day Camps beginning April 1, 2026.
Ages 8-12
Materials, Methods, and Meaning-Making
Older campers engage in more focused studio projects to deepen their understanding of materials, processes, and artistic intention. Working from exhibition themes and guided conversations, learners explore how artists communicate ideas through colour, form, texture, and pattern. Our art-centered environment supports problem-solving, experimentation, and meaningful creative growth.
Learning Focus: Foundational art techniques, design concepts, personal expression
