In this hands-on workshop in the AGB darkroom, you’ll explore how historic techniques of lumen, cyanotype and chemigram cameraless photographic techniques intersect to create striking, archival images that merge soft, ephemeral silver, blue and dramatic purple/pink tones on photographic paper. Using a mix of traditional darkroom practices and alternative photographic methods, you’ll experiment with translucent and graphic materials—such as fabrics, flowers, stencils, and glassware—as well as personal objects that reflect memory, emotion, and story.
Cameraless photography is an opportunity to play with different source of light, traditional and alternative darkroom chemistry and resists on silver-gelatin paper to create uniquely personal works of art. Through playful experimentation, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the chemistry of light-sensitive materials, exposure, and development, while building core analogue photography skills and darkroom safety practices. Perfect for beginners and artists alike, this workshop celebrates the expressive potential of historical photographic processes in a contemporary, creative context.
